What is a CEU?
A CEU (continuing education unit) is a measurement used to quantify continuing adult education and training activities. In general, 1 hour of training = 0.1 CEUs.
Since TFPP is an authorized provider of CEUs, what does this mean to me?
Since October 31, 2007 TFPP Americas has been authorized to be a provider of CEUs by IACET (International Association for Continuing Education & Training, 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102. Visit www.iacet.org for more information). IACET’s authorized providers are required to complete a comprehensive application and a full evaluation of their educational processes, including a site visit by an IACET representative.
As a result, an IACET Authorized Provider demonstrates compliance with research-based criteria from the U.S. Department of Education, and adheres to high standards of quality in continuing education and training.
Which TFPP programs are eligible for CEUs?
The Americas TFPP training programs, if educational in content, offer CEUs. The number of CEUs per program is calculated according to the number of instructional hours within the training program.
How do I obtain the CEUs?
At the end of a program that offers CEUs, you will be given the opportunity to complete an assessment. A score of 70% or higher must be reached in order to earn the CEUs. You will have three chances to pass the final assessment. If you do not pass the final assessment after your third try, you will have to repurchase the program and pass the final assessment. Upon completion, you will obtain CEUs, which will be shown on the Training Certificate that you must print or save on your computer for your records. CEUs also count as general contact hours. For every 0.1 Continuing Education Unit, you will receive one contact hour.
Who is the target audience?
The target audience is quite broad. Essentially, members of any professional organization will need to maintain a certain level of continuing education. With our IACET accreditation, TFPP can help all of these members meet their minimum continuing education requirements.
What is a contact hour or CPD point?
A contact hour is a generic term representing the number of hours in a training activity. Contact hours are accepted by many organizations; however, they do not necessitate a rigorous evaluation of the programs they are tied to. While CEUs count as general contact hours, contact hours do not count as CEUs. In general, 1 hour of training = 1.0 contact hour.
A CPD point stands for Continuing Professional Development point which is the term NICET uses for contact hours.
Which organizations accept CEUs and/or contact hours?
Various organizations accept contact hours while others require CEUs. While we can confirm that NICET accepts CEUs and contact hours, which they refer to as Continuing Professional Development points, we do not maintain a list of organizations which accept CEUs or contact hours. To be certain that you obtain the type of continuing education that you need, please check with your organization to verify if you need CEUs or contact hours.
